1. What GrindSafe does

GrindSafe helps users check food scraps and kitchen waste before putting them down a household garbage disposal. The App analyzes photos you capture or select and returns informational mechanical risk guidance. Guidance is not a guarantee of disposal performance or plumbing outcomes.

2. Information we process

  • Photos and images you capture with Camera or select from Photos for scan analysis.
  • An anonymous account/session identifier created automatically. GrindSafe does not require a username/password login.
  • Basic technical information needed to operate and debug the App, such as app version and general device/OS details.
  • Local scan history stored on your device (until deleted by you or by normal app behavior).

3. How we use information

  • To provide disposal-safety guidance.
  • To operate and protect the service and help prevent abuse.
  • To maintain App functionality and troubleshoot issues.

4. Image processing

Images may be sent over the network to remote analysis and backend services so GrindSafe can produce guidance. Images are not processed solely on your device for the core scan experience.

5. Sharing

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not use scan data for advertising.
  • Service providers may process data only as needed to operate the App, backend, and analysis services.

6. Permissions

  • Camera is used to capture food-scrap images for scans.
  • Photos access is used to select food-scrap images for scans.
  • Microphone access is used only if or when diagnostic sound features are used or requested.

7. Data retention

Local scan history remains on your device unless deleted by you or by normal App behavior. Backend and provider systems may retain limited technical or operational data as needed to operate, secure, debug, and improve reliability. Retention periods can vary by provider and operational need.

8. Children

GrindSafe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
